Croesy progress out of group

Croesy ensured that they progressed out of the group and into the next stage in their defence of the Ben Francis Cup with a hard fought 28-19 victory over Garndiffaith, who they had defeated in the final last season. The game was played in foggy conditions at Woodland Road and proved to be a see-saw encounter. Croesy went into an early 14 point lead through tries by Stephen Drummond and Matthew Cummins, both converted by Cummins. The Garn replied with 2 tries, the second of which was unconverted, before half-time. The first-half ended with Croesy leading 14-12.

The second-half saw Croesy score first through a Matthew Cummins penalty, before the Garn responded with their third try to lead 19-17. The lead was restored through Cummins second penalty as the game went into its last quarter. Cummins then extended the lead further with his third penalty before Ryan Bates sealed the victory with an unconverted try in the last few minutes.
