Youth Match Report

Croesyceiliog Youth came away 51 – 07 Winners to a Bedwas Youth Team who only had the bare 15 players last Saturday. Bedwas started off well and made a break from the kick off by one of their big forwards who charged straight up the middle of the field which showed our weakness in defence and highlighted our missed tackles. Bedwas with their much bigger heavier pack dominated the scrum though the Croesyceiliog forwards never gave up and kept at it. In the lineouts Croesyceiliog had the upper hand and won some good ball for our backs to run and make some good breaks which culminated in some quick fire tries. The backs had somewhat of a field day thanks to the Croesyceiliog forwards winning them the ball in the loose. In the second half Bedwas was reduced to 14 men due to an injury which Croesyceiliog took full advantage of and the floodgates opened with backs and forwards combining to score some superb tries between them. Croesyceiliog lost backrow forward Josh Pritchard to a dislocated shoulder injury which will side-line him for at least 6 weeks. There were a few scuffles and some ill-discipline showed during the game and 2 yellow cards were issued which sent a player from both sides to the sin bin. Late in the game Bedwas got a consolation try from a determined run by their forwards. Overall a well-played game by both teams.

If one was to give Croesyceiliog Youth any advice it would be to stop bickering amongst themselves and to concentrating on playing the game
