The 1st XV entertained St Josephs from Division 1 East Central in a trial game on South Fields as part of the preparation for the new season. The game proved to be a useful workout although Croesy were defeated by 31 points to 22 in a 9 try bonanza. St. Josephs scored two early tries to take a 12-0 lead. Croesy hit back with two unconverted tries from Liam Silver and Steve Drummond, but a 3rd try by St Josephs gave them a 17-10 half-time lead. A fourth try and conversion gave St. Josephs a 14 point advantage, before Micki Witts scored Croesys 3rd try, his effort being converted by Luke Brown, to leave Croesy again just a converted try behind. Unfortunately it was St Josephs who scored the next try, their 5th of the game to leave Croesy with a 14 point deficit. With time running out Croesy however had the last word with Sean Pattemore crossing the line with the final try of the game.
Croesy's next pre-season game is at home to Newbridge this Wednesday.
